Stefi Boffa continued her improvement by making the final of the 10K in Jersey, but unfortunately not able to serve as well in the final as she had done all week. All credit must go to Katarzyna Piter from Poland who played a very good final winning in two sets (62, 62). Stefi will now play a 10K in Spain before doing a couple of English exams ending the year with a 75K in Dubai. Christina Mathis the newest MCTA recruit will play three 10K’s in a row in Spain.

Stefania Boffa after an impressive performance in the Zurich Cup where she pushed the world no 65 Yanina Wickmayer in a close 63 76(5) defeat, teamed up with British player Amanda Elliot for a successful week in Glasgow where they both won their first Challenger title. Stefi was contesting her sixth final and was mindful of the words of her coach David Sammel who said: ‘Keep putting yourself in the position and you will certainly win one’. This win takes Stefi to within 12 points of the top 200 yet again a new career high. |

Stefy Boffa has reached a career high of 248 in doubles after a semi-final appearance in the 75k in Shrewsbury following a close-fought encounter with Borwell/Nagel, losing 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 with partner Nikola Frankova. In singles she is also closing in on her career high 374 and would have easily achieved this had she been able to repeat her final qualifying victory over Vanessa Henke.

Andy Murray is a great talent and the confidence and mental strength he has taken from knowing he can physically last 5 sets with the best in the world is a tribute to the work done with Jez supported by Matt Little. This was evident in both the Melzer and Del Potro matches where Andy was clearly fitter and stronger in the later part of those matches. Andy's desire to improve his mental and physical strength even more quickly after losing to Nadal at Wimbledon has been impressive. In the semis he showed his maturity and matched Nadal physically.

Hot on the heels of his Wimbledon junior final and boosted by his first appearance as a world top 10 junior at number 6, Henri playedd his second Davis Cup match against Luxembourg. He won the doubles with Niemenen on Saturday and the thrown into the singles with the tie at 2-2 he comfortably won the decider. His next senior tournament is the Tampere Challenger next Monday. |
