When you land in the court after the serve it is important to have a large 1st step into a split before stepping into a volley. In the first clip you see the type of length of step required. We also show a 2 step aproach from Stefy. We show two correct clips and an incorrect clip.

Choose 1 step into a split or 2 steps into a split?

A player needs to practice and decide which is most comfortable and easiest for them to read and get to the volley. In the 2nd video clip you will see Stefy on a good 2 step serve and volley routine which causes a smaller 1st step and larger 2nd step. Stefy however is working to inprove the length of the 1st step. In the 3rd clip Anna has 2 small steps into the split. We will now work to perfect a 1 step into a split which is her most efficient way to serve and volley. When she opts for 2 steps she tends to get too small. The way we are changing this is for Anna to do lots of airball serve and volley followed by basket feeding an easy volley and then we wil move to live serve and volley points. We will bring you the clips of Anna once she has mastered the 1 step serve and volley.
